SIOUX FALL, S.D. (KELO AM) - Another burst of hot humid weather this weekend for the northern plains with temperatures ten to fifteen degrees above average.
Forecaster Todd Heitkamp says this weather pattern is pretty rare.
Heitkamp says we should be in the middle of the severe weather season but there have not been that many severe events in the Upper Midwest so far. He says its possible that severe weather is being delayed and may not peak until July or August.
He says there is the possibilty of severe weather Sunday night into Monday morning. Highs Monday and Tuesday forecast in the low to mid 80's after the cool front passes.
Heitkamp says looking farther out, it appears the heat will build back in and we'll again experience July and August weather in June.
He says it's critically important for folks to stay hydrated, dinking plenty of water. Also, watch intake of alcohol outdoors, stay in the shade, if your working take plenty of breaks and stay in air conditioning as much as possible.
