SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The South Dakota Republican Party last weekend officially opposed a ballot measure that seeks to establish nonpartisan elections.
Party Executive Director Ryan Budmayr says the amendment is bad policy led by Democrats to make South Dakota's process similar to that in California.
Budmayr says "we're proud of being Republicans, we want people to know we're Republicans when they go to the ballot box." He says wants voters to have more information and continue the transparency.
Republicans also oppose Amendment T which would change redistricting authority and Initiated Measure 22 that revises state campaign finance and lobbying laws.
During the two-day convention in Aberdeen, South Dakota Republicans nominated Chris nelson to continue to represent the GOP in the race for Public Utilities Commissioner in November.
