Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) The National Weather Service says that wind chills could get down to -40 to -50 Monday morning in Sioux Falls.
Forecaster Brad Adams says it will be the coldest it's felt in our area in several years. He says the new Arctic blast will start moving in Sunday evening.
Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton has taken the rare step to call off all public school classes for Monday in his state for the first time since 1997 because of the expected wind chills. A spokesman for South Dakota Governor Dennis Daugaard says that he is leaving the decision whether or not to cancel Monday classes up to individual school districts.
Typically, Sioux Falls school officials would wait until Sunday evening to make the decision, perhaps after consulting with the National Weather Service.
