SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Senator John Thune doesn’t support military involvement in the Ukraine but says there are economic and diplomatic tools that can make Russia pay.
Thune says he hopes the President will provide strong leadership. But Thune says given the President's past foreign relation's efforts, there may be some misgivings about his policies.
Thune says he's glad Secretary Kerry is trying to build allies in Europe. He believes there would be broad bi-partisan support for any action the adminstration takes that would support the forces of freedom and democracy in the Ukraine.
Thune says world is waiting for the United States to support Ukraine and isolate Russia.
