SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM On March 21, 2014, at approximately 1 p.m., Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to an apartment fire at 1205 North Prairie Avenue.
First-arriving crews found a hot smell, then found smoke and flames coming from the second floor kitchen of a three-story structure. Crews evacuated the building and had the fire under control in approximately 20 minutes.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with three support vehicles, five fire trucks, and 23 firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation. The apartment building did not have a sprinkler system.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to leave the building when they hear the fire alarms.
