SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Telephone scams are in high gear lately and the Sioux Falls Police don’t want you to be a victim.

Captain Greg VanDekamp says scammers are pretending to be your credit card company or the I.R.S. The I-R-S never contacts you by phone and never offer personal financial information over the phone.

VanDekamp scammers ask for information that your banks or credit unions already have so don't volunteer the information.  He say if you any doubts, call the police and make a report.

Vandekamp says the call are becoming so frequent that police officers report getting them.
