Sioux Falls, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Public Works Street Division will begin sweeping city streets on Monday, March 31, 2014, weather permitting.

Some factors that may delay sweeping operations include temperatures below freezing, heavy rain, snow, and frozen gutter lines.

The city has been divided into sweeping districts so that crews can cover all areas of Sioux Falls. Crews will begin sweeping in Districts 24, 30, 31, 37, 40, and 83. Each crew includes a flusher truck to control dust, two sweepers, and two dump trucks that remove the material collected. Drivers are asked to use caution when in or near sweeping work areas.

The Public Works Street Division makes every effort to remove snow and ice control aggregate, sediment, and other debris from the road surfaces each spring. We are looking forward to cleaning up our city’s streets.

Daily sweeping progress reports and a map of the street sweeping districts can be found on the City’s website at www.siouxfalls.org/sweeping. Street maintenance information also is available by calling the Street Division at 605-367-8255 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
