Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) A group against an indoor pool at Spellerberg Park has announced what it calls a viable and exciting option for an outdoor pool.
The Citizens for Savings Spellerberg Park group offers a natural outdoor swiming pool. A natural pool uses no chemicals, but stays clear and clean through a water plant filtration system.
Spokeswoman Paula Johnson says not only would the city save money on chemcials, but people allergic to pool chemicals would also be able to enjoy the pool.
Natural pools have been in use in Europe for decades. The first natural pool in the U-S is expected to be at Webber Park in Minneapolis later this year.
Another bonus, says Johnson, is that the pool would not have to be drained in winter and could be a mini-skating rink at Spellerberg.
