Sioux Falls, S.D. (KELO AM) - Fire units arrived to find a ten-unit storage building with smoke and fire coming from two of the units. Fire units also were alerted to an injured person who had been in the building at the time the fire broke out. The injured person was treated and transported to a local hospital for injuries. The fire was extinguished in approximately 20 minutes. Two of the storage units suffered severe fire damage and the other units had some smoke damage.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with 3 support vehicles, 5 fire trucks, and 23 firefighters. The storage building did not have a fire suppression sprinkler system. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to store combustible materials a safe distance from heating equipment.
