Pierre S.D. (KELO AM) - U.S. Representative Kristi Noem announced the first annual Lead Now! Youth Leadership Conference. Rep. Noem will be joined at Augustana College on April 15 by Rep. Aaron Schock, two-time WNBA Champion Olympia Scott, and leadership coach Rich Chapman to teach hundreds of South Dakota students about the power of positive leadership. Rep. Tammy Duckworth will also provide a special video message during the event.
“The 2014 Lead Now! Youth Leadership Conference will encourage and equip students across the state so they can become leaders in their classroom and community,” said Rep. Noem. “We have brought together a dynamic lineup of speakers who have compelling stories and are looking to grow those around them. I am hopeful this will be an exciting, uplifting event that will inspire South Dakota’s next generation of leaders to Lead Now.”
Hundreds of students across the state are expected to participate in the 2014 Lead Now! Youth Leadership Conference. The event will be held at Augustana College’s Elmen Center in Sioux Falls on Tuesday, April 15. The event is free of charge and exclusively for South Dakota high school students. United States Representative Aaron Schock
Congressman Aaron Schock (R) has represented the 18th district of Illinois in the US House of Representatives since 2009. Elected at age 27, Rep. Schock was the youngest member of Congress for the first 4 years of his service in the House. Schock was elected to serve on his local school board at age 19 and by 23 was elected as an Illinois State Representative.
Olympia Scott
Olympia Scott is the first woman in history to win Women’s National Basketball Association Championships with two different teams, in 2005 with the Sacramento Monarchs and in 2007 with the Phoenix Mercury. Today, Olympia is the President and CEO of Super Parenting LLC, a Motivational Speaker, Published Author, Life and Fitness Coach, Wife and Proud Mother.
Rich Chapman
Rich Chapman, a graduate of Augustana College, has had a remarkably successful career and is now an inspirational teacher for organizational leaders. While at Augustana, he was an NCAA Division II All-American basketball player, and in 2003 was named to the NCAA Silver Anniversary All-America Basketball Team. Chapman recently co-wrote “All-Pro Wisdom: The 7 Choices That Lead to Greatness” with NFL Man of the Year and former Minnesota Viking Matt Birk.
