SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - In 2006 Minnehaha County Sheriff Mike Milstead had to tell Dustin Holter’s parents that their son died in an alcohol related traffic accident.
Milstead spoke at today’s annual Parents Matter campaign that encourages parents to talk to their kids about drinking and driving.
During April, South Dakota schools will reach out to parents and help them talk to their children through the Parents Matter campaign. 165 K-12 schools and 5 colleges and universities in South Dakota participate in the campaign.
There were no teen deaths from drinking and driving last year in South Dakota. There have been two so far this year. It's time to have "The Talk."
