SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) On Sunday morning, April 6, 2014, around 10:40 a.m., Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded to the report of a structure fire at 1901 South Menlo Avenue. The initial report was there were people still inside the structure. Sioux Falls Fire arrived on scene to a two-story residence with smoke showing from the second story window. The first-arriving fire company completed their initial investigation and confirmed that all occupants were out of the home. The fire was confined to the upstairs closet and extinguished within 15 minutes.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue responded with five fire trucks along with a command vehicle. There were 20 firefighters on scene. The home was equipped with working smoke detectors. The American Red Cross was also on scene and provided assistance to the family living in the home.
Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind residents to discuss a home escape plan with family members and ensure all matches and lighters are placed in a secure location.
