Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Two people have died on South Dakota roads so far this weekend.
A single vehicle crash west of Sioux Falls Saturday, claimed the life of a Parker teen. Sixteen-year-old Tonya Anderson was a passenger in a vehicle driven by seventeen-year-old Shadd Tullis of Harrisburg. Tullis was eastbound on Highway 42 and tried to pass two vehicles, encountered a west bound vehicle, and list control trying to get back into the eastbound lane. The vehicle left the roadway and hit a utility pole. Anderson sustained fatal injuries in the crash. Tullis was airlifted to a Sioux Falls Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. Neither was wearing their seat belt.
Forty-one year old Stephanie Shields of Sioux Falls was killed in a two vehicle accident on I-29 south of Brookings.
Shields was northbound in the southbound lanes and collided with a semi driven by David Ziebarth of Rapid City. Ziebarth was not injured. Both were wearing their seat belts.
No other information was available on either crash.
