SIOUX FALLS, S;.D. (KELO AM) - The father of a two-year-old Sioux Falls girl was arrested in Boise, Idaho, last night after failing to return the child to her mom Tuesday.
Lieutenant Matt Burns says 24-year-old Jared Scott Swets does not have custody of the child and was taking her to his home in Grants Pass, Oregon.
Burns credits Idaho official for working so closely with Sioux Falls Police on the case and bringing it to a successful conclusion. He says Swets was back in Sioux Falls for Easter and things had been going well so the girl's mother allowed him someprivate time with their daughter but he missed the return time.
Burns says Swets is charged with removing a child from the state, a felony. He's being held in Idaho awaiting extradition to South Dakota.
