SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Minnehaha County Commission Jeff Barth says Sioux Falls has the seventh fastest growing crime rate in the United States
Barth says the drug issue is not just meth but also pharmaceutical drugs. He says in places where the cost of pharmaceutical drugs is so high, some turn to heroin and end up dying. Barth says many officials are quick to highlight only favorable stories or rankings in the community. He says there's and underlying story that's not being told.
Commissioner Dick Kelly echoed Barth’s remarks saying that the community doesn’t have to accept a growing crime rate. Kelly suggested holding a summit of law enforcment, city and county officials, health professionals and residents to discuss drugs and crime.
