SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Witnesses say a car was traveling 70 miles an hour last night before missing the turn at 4th Avenue and 13th Street and hitting an apartment building.
The vehicle went up over the curb, crashed through a fence and hit the side of the apartment building at 400 East 13th Street. Police estimate damage to the building at $10,000. Witnesses say it appeared that the driver didn't make any attempt to turn the car.
Officer Sam Clemens says residents helped 43-year-old Timothy Lee Bellonger of Sioux Falls out of the car. The residents rolled the car back on its wheels and Bellonger tried driving away but it wouldn’t move.
He ran a short distance but was arrested for his second D-W-I, reckless driving, no license and hit and run.
