Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - Much needed precipitation is on the forecast for the area this weekend.
For Saturday, there is a 60 – 70 percent chance for precipitation today into tonight. Widespread severe weather is not expected for today, but storms with small hail and wind gust to 40 mph are possible. Some storms will have locally heavy rain, with flash flooding a possibility.
For Sunday, showers and thunderstorms will return, with a severe storm a possibility. Hail to the size of half dollar size is possible, along with locally heavy rain and wind gusts to 60 mph. The greatest threat for severe weather is in Southeast South Dakota and around Sioux City. The chance for rain is 60 per cent Sunday and Sunday night.
Monday will bring a 30percent chance of rain with a high nearing 80. Rainfall amounts through Monday could exceed two inches in places.
