Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) The South Dakota State Supreme Court has agreed with a lower court decision that Sioux Falls properly annexed the land on which a new south side Walmart is to be built.
The Save Your Neighborhood group argued that the land annexation was illegal because the city first failed to get Lincoln County's approval.
Group Spokesman Dana Palmer says they certainly wish the Court had ruled differently, but they respect the decision. She says it's too soon to talk about what the group may do next - if anything - to try to stop the big store. Palmer says the land is inappropriate for any 'big box' store because of traffic issues and because it is too close to growing residential areas.
In April, Sioux Falls voters favored a new Walmart on the south side by a landslide margin. The store would be Walmart's fourth in Sioux Falls.
