PIERRE, S.D. (KELO AM) -- Flooding in southeast South Dakota has forced the temporary closure of several state parks.
Approximately half of the campsites at Big Sioux Recreation Area near Brandon are closed until flood waters recede. The Valley of the Giants hiking trail and disc golf course are also closed at this time. Big Sioux will be updating theirFacebook page as conditions improve.
The Visitor Center at Adams Homestead and Nature Preserve in North Sioux City will be closed until at least Monday, June 23, depending on conditions. Visitors are asked to call 605-232-0873 or check the Adams Facebook page before heading to the park.
Lake Alvin Recreation Area east of Harrisburg and Beaver Creek Nature Area southeast of Brandon are closed due to damage from high flood waters earlier in the week.
