Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - An accident involving a car and a motorcycle shut down the intersection of 10th& Lowell early Sunday morning.

Sioux Falls Police were called to the scene just before 2:00 am.   A car driven by 55-year-old Cynthia Goeman had stopped for a flashing red light and entered the intersection making a left hand turn onto 10th Street when, it was hit by a motorcycle driven by 24-year-old Quentin McMartin.

McMartin and a passenger on the motorcycle, 21-year-old Michelle Tarian were thrown from the bike.  Neither rider was wearing a helmet.  McMartin is being treated for life threatening injuries.  Tarian is in critical, but stable condition.

Goeman was treated and released from the hospital.  She was arrested for DUI and two counts of vehicular battery.

The Sioux Falls Police Department accident reconstruction team will be completing additional analysis of this traffic collision in the coming days.  We would like to urge motorists to use caution when approaching intersections with flashing traffic signals.
