SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls police are adding officers in an effort to educate drivers, pedestrians and bicyclists on the rules of the road.

Lieutenant Troy Lubbers  says some officers will be walking in street clothes.  He say when they see motorists who don't give pedestrians or bicyclists the right of way, or turn in front of them, they'll radio ahead to officers who will stop them.

He says police will also watch for jaywalkers and bicyclist who weave in and out of traffic and the sidewalk.

Lubbers says after a couple of weeks of education police will write citations to offending motorists, pedestrians and bicyclists.  Citations can be as high as $120.
