SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Tonight is National Night Out and some 14 Sioux Falls neighborhoods are holding parties to celebrate their spirit and police-community partnerships.
Officer Jim Larson says residents familiar with one another make neighborhoods safer. Larson says Night Out is an effective, inexpensive and enjoyable program for a safer community.
Officers and some Sioux Falls City personnel will attend several Neighborhood Watch Group parties. The goal is to get folks out of their homes, meet and get to know one another to make safer neighborhoods.
Larson says the benefits of Night Out continue well beyond tonight.
