SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County State’s Attorney’s office may get some help from the state in prosecuting D-W-I cases.
State’s Attorney Aaron McGowan says a highway safety grant would provide for an additional person on the D-W-I court.
McGowan says there are between 1,600 and 2,000 D-W-I's in Minnehaha County each year. He says that's a large percentage of the County's caseload. He says many of the cases are defended by private attorneys because it's such a cross section of our society that has these instances.
The Minnehaha County Commission unanimously approved allowing McGowan to submit for the grant.
