Sioux Falls, S.D. (KELO AM) - Members of Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, Rural Metro Ambulance and the Sioux Falls Police Department responded to a collision at Elmwood Golf Course. Metro Communications received a report at 8:30 last night of a vehicle versus building collision.
Preliminary investigation reveals that the driver had to be extricated from his 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac. He was driving northbound on Kiwanis Ave and ran the red light at Russell Street, crossing into the Elmwood Golf Course parking lot. The vehicle traveled across the lot eventually colliding with a concrete block storage building.The 31 year old male was transported to a local hospital with serious life threatening injuries. His name is not being released at this point in time. Speed and alcohol both appear to be factors in this crash.The Sioux Falls Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is working to reconstruct the circumstances surrounding this collision. No charges have been filed pending the outcome of the investigation.
