SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) -There’ll be a partial solar eclipse on Thursday starting around 4:30 and lasting about an hour.
Sioux Falls Forecaster Todd Heitkamp says Thursday afternoon is expected to be mostly sunny. Heitkamp says you can damage your eyesight by looking directly at the eclipse.
Unlike a lunar eclipse that can last much longer, a solar eclipse at its peak lasts only a few minutes. Heitkamp says you can safely view the partial eclipse by making a pinhole in a piece of cardboard and cast the image of the sun on a wall.
