BURNSVILLE, Minn. – Augustana College sophomore quarterback Trey Heid has been named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Vikings' win at Wayne State on Saturday, the league announced on Monday.
Heid, a native of Lakeville, Minn., tied a single game school record with six touchdown passes in a 52-48 win at Wayne State. He led the team on a game-winning drive as the Vikings got the ball back trailing by three with 1:15 to play and went 59 yards on seven plays capped-off with his sixth touchdown pass of the game. Heid finished the game 18 of 33 for a career-high 339 yards and tied an NCAA Division II record for touchdown passes in a quarter with five in the second stanza. He added a career-long 61-yard touchdown pass to Matt Heller as he threw for over 300 yards for the third time in his career.
Heid completed seven passes of 20 or more yards, including completions of 23, 30, 40 and 61 yards. Heid is tied for the league-lead and ranks 16th in the country with 18 touchdown passes on the season. He owns a 155.0 efficiency rating completing 110 of 195 passes with one interception and 18 touchdowns which leads the NSIC and ranks 15th nationally.
This marks the first NSIC player of the week honor for Heid and the third for a Viking this season.
