Fire alarm causes delay at Sioux Falls polling place

Undated (KELO-AM) Voters at a polling place at the Kenny Anderson Center in Sioux Falls were given an extra 24 minutes to vote Tuesday night.

Minnehaha County Auditor Bob Litz says a fire alarm went off earlier in the day so the building was evacuated for about 24 minutes. The polls normally close at 7pm Central.

State Attorney General Marty Jackley says state law requires that votes cast after normal closing time must be provisional ballots.

Jackley in trouble with some Native American activists for requiring provisional ballots at two polling stations on Pine Ridge that had to remain open an extra hour because they opened late.
