HURON, SD (KELO AM) - The proposed route of the Dakota Access Pipeline goes through 13 counties in South Dakota.

Landowners will have the opportunity to learn more about this project during the South Dakota Farm Bureau annual meeting in Sioux Falls this weekend, where Chuck Frey, Vice President of Engineering for Energy Transfer Partners, will speak on the topic and be available to answer questions.

The session is at 10:45 a.m. this Saturday, Nov. 22 at the Ramkota Hotel & Convention Center in Sioux Falls.  A one-day pass for the Saturday sessions of the SDFB Annual Meeting is $45, which includes access to all of the sessions and meals. The pipeline would carry North Dakota oil down through South Dakota and Iowa before ending in Illinois. Supporters say this will ease up the pressure on the railroads, potentially freeing up rail cars for agricultural use. The larger map below shows a more detailed look at the proposed pipeline route.Other Saturday session topics include: a presentation from Greg Peterson of the "Peterson Farm Brothers," a discussion on potential changes to the national beef checkoff, what you need to know about changes to the farm program, new precision ag technologies from Raven Industries, and a livestock and crop outlook for 2015 from the American Farm Bureau's deputy chief economist, John Anderson.See the entire SDFB Annual Meeting agenda here.  Online registration has now closed, but registration is available on-site at the Ramkota.
