SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County Commission today awarded an ambulance license to Med-Star to serve an area mostly north and west of Sioux Falls.
Commissioner Gerald Beninga offered an addendum requiring a western station housing an ambulance. Beninga says it could be a fixed site or even a mobile location as long as there's an ambulance service in the western part of the service area.
Med-Star previously agreed to establishing a satellite location west of Sioux Falls to improve response times.
The current contract is good for almost two years. The other ambulance provider, Paramedics Plus, will replace Rural Metro beginning May 21 and will serve Sioux Falls.
