SIOUX FALL, S.D. (KEKLO AM) - Recent neighborhood cleanup efforts in Sioux Falls removed over 500 tons of rubble.
Project Manager LuAnn Ford says this year’s total is lower than the last two years. Ford says two years ago there were a lot of tree debris from the April ice storm and that still held over last year. She said there was less wood this year and the City now turns it to chips before hauling so you can get more into the trucks.
Ford says crews picked-up 622 loads of rubble, 12 loads of tires, four loads of appliances, 8 loads of yard waste and 18 loads of wood waste.
She says there was almost 8.5 tons of waste removed from four mobile home parks as part of Project NICE/KEEP.
Ford says well-kept neighborhoods have lower crime rates.
