SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Senator John Thune plans introducing legislation that he says will improve extended weather forecasts.
Thune says the bill streamlines NOAA’s research and makes them more accountable.
Thune says weather forecasters do a terrific job and he's not suggesting that they're not up to task at all. He says there are some things that he thinks will enable the Weather Service to do a better job detecting seasonal trends'
He says the goal is to make the Weather Service more effective in communicating critical information.
