SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - West Central School District voters head to the polls Tuesday May 19 to determine if the tax rich Cherry Lake development stays in the district or will be a part of the Sioux Falls School District.

Lisa Engel with Save Our Future says voters must decide if they want to grow or surrender part of the tax base.  A no vote rejects the resolution and a yes vote supports it as passed by the school board.

West Central School Board Member Steve Dick says he'd like to keep Cherry Lake, but the board's lawyers say that trying to keep the subdivison could cost West Central up to six figures in court. He supports the 20 year revenue sharing plan with the Sioux Falls School District.

The polling place in each precinct:

West Central Administrative Office, Hartford - Hartford City, Hartford Township, Grand Meadow Township and Benton Township.

West Central Elementary School, Humboldt - Humboldt City, Humboldt Township, Clear Lake Township, Spring Valley Township. Greenland Township and Wellington Township.

Wall Lake Township Hall - (1/2 mile north jct. Hwy 42 and County Rd 151) Wall Lake Township, and Wayne Township.

Polls will be open from seven to seven.
