Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) - Sioux Falls Fire Rescue crews responded to a fire call shortly before 7 Sunday evening on Valhalla Boulevard, near the Empire Mall on the city's southwest side. Arriving trucks spotted flames leaping through a third floor apartment, involving the deck and roof structures. All residents were quickly evacuated and the blaze was attacked from both exterior and interior locations. Before the blaze was under control, a portion of the north side roof collapsed and the building is said to have major damage. The Sioux Empire Red Cross responded to assist affected residents. There's been no word on any injuries. Fire Inspectors are on scene and beginning to look into the cause of the blaze.
