SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Great Plains Zoo unveiled its newest resident yesterday, a four-year-old Komodo Dragon named Natasha.
Executive Director Elizabeth Whealy says the Indonesian lizard can grow to between six and ten feet long and weigh up to 150 pounds.
Whealy says in the wild, the Komodo's saliva is deadly to their prey. She says all the Komodo has to do is put the bite on a victim and let the poison do it's work. The Komodo follows the victim waiting for the poison to play out.
The Great Plains Zoo is open from nine to six daily.
