SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - It’s not a heat outbreak but highs in the mid-nineties today call for a reminder of heat safety tips.
Sioux Falls forecaster Billy Williams says there’s a potential for the body to heat too rapidly to cool itself.
Williams says our bodies aren't acclimated to hot days yet. He advises drinking plenty of fluids, don't exert yourself in the heat of the day, don't spend prolonged time in the sun and keep an eye on elderly neighbors.
Of course, do not leave pets or children in vehicles.
The extended forecast calls for heavy rain Wednesday night into Thursday.
