Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) - An alert cab dispatcher led to the arrest of a suspect in an armed robbery of a cab driver last week.
At approximately 11:40 p.m. Saturday night, an alert dispatcher at Yellow Cab Taxi recognized the phone number of a potential fare as the same number that was used in the armed robbery of a cab driver on Aug 13th, 2015. The caller had requested a cab to the rear of the Lone Star Restaurant located at 1801 W 41st. The dispatcher had his cabbie turnaround from the area and then called 911. SFPD officers were dispatched to the area and came into contact with a subject to the rear of the restaurant that matched the description of the robbery suspect from the night of August 13th. He was still on his phone and had a realistic looking black semi-automatic BB gun in his waist band.
The subject was identified as 20 year old Saquan Pemberton. After further investigation Pemberton was lodged in the Minnehaha County Jail for one count of armed robbery for the crime that was committed on August 13th and one count of attempted robbery for the crime he was about to commit on August 15th.
