PIERRE, SD (KELO AM) – Attorney General Marty Jackley announced today that Joseph Matthew Stanford, 38, Brandon, was sentenced today on one count of selling a motor vehicle without the consent of lienholder. Stanford received 2 years of probation, 120 days jail time with 90 days suspended. In addition, Stanford is barred from selling vehicles or working as an automotive manager for 2 years.
Stanford, owner and principal of Moto Joes, engaged in deceptive business transactions surrounding the selling and buying of a vehicle and was indicted in February 2015.
This case was investigated with the cooperative efforts of the South Dakota Department of Revenue Division of Motor Vehicles, the Attorney General’s Consumer Protection Division and the Division of Criminal Investigation. This case was prosecuted by the Attorney General’s Office.
