SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A suspect and victim may have learned something about stealing cars in the winter.
Officer Sam Clemens says the victim left his truck running and unlocked and police followed the suspect’s footprints in the snow after crashing.
Clemens says 19-year-old Clayton Marlyn Casey is charged with grand theft, theft from vehicle and gave officers a fake name.
He says never leave keys in your vehicle even if you turn off the ignition, thieves know where to look for them. If you have to leave your car running, have two sets of keys or a remote start system.
