SIOUX FALLS (KELO AM) - City Council Chair Kenny Anderson Jr. and Mayor Mike Huether are encouraging Sioux Falls residents to run for public service opportunities, including the Sioux Falls City Council. The City of Sioux Falls Municipal/School Board Election will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. The open City Council positions are At-Large, Northeast District, Northwest District, and Southwest District.
“It has been my privilege to work with such a dedicated, hard-working City Council and administration team,” says City Council Chair Kenny Anderson Jr. “I have absolutely enjoyed my eight years on the City Council, and urge my fellow citizens to move from the sidelines to the frontline of local change. Representative government needs citizens willing to serve for the greater good of the community.”

Friday, January 29, 2016, marks the first day that nominating petitions can be circulated and filed. Election booklets and petition forms may be picked up at the City Clerk’s Office, 235 West Tenth Street, or the nominating petitions may be downloaded at www.siouxfalls.org/election.
Open City Council seats being vacated due to term limits are:
- · Northeast District, currently held by Kenny Anderson Jr.
- · Northwest District, currently held by Dean Karsky
- · Southwest District, currently held by Greg Jamison
Councilor Kermit L. Staggers currently holds the At-Large Council member position and is eligible for a second term.

The filing deadline for petitions is Friday, February 26, 2016, at 5 p.m.
