Sioux Falls, SD (KELO AM) – An inmate classified as high-risk has been released to the public this week following the completion of his sentence in the State Penn.
Michael Ontiveros was serving time for burglary in Hughes and Walworth counties. He also has a history of sex related offenses. Jail officials say Ontiveros ran up a laundry list of behavioral problems while he was behind bars as well. The 47 year old has been in and out of prison repeatedly for nearly three decades.
Ontiveros had originally stated his intent to leave Sioux Falls and start over in Eagle Butte; however KSFY TV reports the Cheyenne Sioux Tribe filed an exclusion order to keep him off their land and out of the city of Eagle Butte.
No matter where he ends up, Ontiveros must register his residence with police within 3 days or he will be arrested due to his history as a sex offender.
