SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) -There were two stolen car cases in Sioux Falls this weekend that shared similar circumstances: both vehicles were unlocked and running and both were taken by 16-year-old boys.
Officer Sam Clemens says in one case the owner chased after the car on foot. Clemens says the owner even talked to the boy about how cold it was and then headed inside. The victim heard his engine rev and he saw it leaving his driveway. The victim chased the car which crashed into a snowbank. He then held the boy until police arrived. He was also charged with DWI.
Clemens says in the other case, a driver left a car running outside a Minnesota Avenue convenience store. Three people jumped into the vehicle and took off. The 16-tear-old suspect was arrested the next day after relatives called police.
The two 16-year-olds were arrested for grand theft.
