Huether: Sioux Falls economy ranks fifth in city accomplishments

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls economy came in fifth on Mayor Mike Huether’s greatest accomplishments last year.

Huether says the city drew down its debt by almost $25 million dollars last year.  

He says Sioux Falls enjoyed the highest growth rate in retail sales across the state at around 5.8% growth.

Huether says at one point the unemployment rate was just above 2% and the the city was awash in help wanted signs and postings.  He says Sioux Falls still has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the country.           

Huether says Sioux Falls added2,800 new jobs last year.
