SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Congresswoman Kristi Noem calls the President’s budget, released earlier this week, “not serious.”
Noem says it would increase the deficit and add to the debt. She says Obama's budget included a 25 cent per gallon tax on gas and ripped out the safety net for ag producers.
Noem accuses the President of not dealing with reality.
She says the House will continue putting together its budget. She says the goal is to make the federal government more responsible with hard working taxpayer dollars.
Under the President's budget higher wage earners would see a tax hike. Capital gains taxes, which now top out at 20% for those in the 39.6% tax bracket, would increase to 28%.
More taxpayers would be eligible for unemployment benefits, which would require coverage for part-time workers and those who leave due to "compelling family reasons."
