SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - Sioux Falls’ new City Clerk Tom Greco says he needs lesss than thirty workers at precincts for the April 12th city-school board election.
Greco says over 200 hundred poll workers will cover the city’s 67 precincts. He started this week needing 60 poll workers and that's been cut in half.
He says even after the city fills all precinct positions, he still wants volunteers to contact his office because those names will go on file or be shared with Minnehaha and Lincoln Counties.
Greco says poll workers must be registered voters and residents of Sioux Falls. Workers must attend a training session that's scheduled late next month.
City nominating petitions must be in a week from today and the ballot order drawing will be Tuesday, March first.
Open council positions include At-Large, Northeast District, Northwest District and Southwest District. Council members are elected to serve four-year terms.
The School Board has two vacancies when the terms of Kent Alberty and Carly Reiter expire in July. Newly elected School Board members will serve a three-year terms.
Candidates for the office of member of the School Board must be a resident voter of the school district. A petition of candidacy must be circulated and signed by 20 registered voters of the school district.
Nomination petitions must be returned to the office of the business Manager by 5:00 p.m. February 26, 2016.
