SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - A Sioux Falls driver says a man she and friends picked up for a ride last night held a knife to her throat after he shoplifted liquor at the HyVee at 10th and Kiwanis.
Officer Sam Clemens says the woman was driving with another woman and a man when they picked up two guys. One of the men asked the driver to stop at the HyVee at 10th and Kiwanis
She stopped at the passenger’s request and he went inside the store. Minutes later he jumped into the backseat with the two other men and ordered the woman to drive.
Along the way the suspect held a pocketknife to the woman's throat and told her to keep going. When she stopped at a red light, the two men in the backseat pushed the suspect out. He fled and has not been found.
Clemens says the driver and passengers know the suspect only by his street name. No one was injured. The suspect took three bottles of vodka and left two in the car, which were returned to HyVee.
