Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Sioux Falls Mayor Mike Huether is very, very happy that the half-penny hike in the state sales tax to help teachers was approved by the State House of Representatives in Pierre. Huether expects the teacher pay raise plan to pass overwhelmingly in the State Senate.
On the Greg Belfrage Show on KELO Radio Tuesday morning, Huether reminded Sioux Falls that good education is part of the quality of life that people and businesses look at when deciding to move to the city.
Huether applauded Governor Daugaard for using his high approval rating in South Dakota to do something "really, really good with it." Huether said that Daugaard is very prudent and if he is "leading the charge" to pay teachers more than that should be respected at the highest level.
