SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) -The Minnehaha County Commission today approved a new fund of $100,000 for updated software.
Commissioner Gerald Beninga balked at the resolution's initial amount of a million dollars.
County Auditor Bob Litz says a maximum of $5 million could have gone into the capital accumulation fund which was set up by the legislature a couple of years ago.
The county is preparing to take bids on new software and some vendors have questioned whether the funds have been appropriated by the commission. At this stage, administrators are still getting information on the software the county will eventually use.
With money in the fund, vendors will be more willing to contact the county.
The money will come from the county's general fund and expenditures can be made only by the commission.
