SIOUX FALLS, S.D.(KELO AM) - The Minnehaha County Sheriff's office is pleading with residents to lock car doors because of a rash of burglaries over the last month.
Sargeant Jason Gearman says thieves have made-off with credit cards, cash and a handgun.
Gearman says that's particularly disturbing because now there's a stolen gun out on the streets. He says "please, please, please" lock your vehicles up at night. He says now that the weather is becoming more mild there are more people out doing these kinds of criminal activities.
Gearman says there were up to nine car burglaries reported overnight earlier this week in Crooks but adds that the problem is county and statewide.
Gearman says the entire Sioux Falls area suffers from a growing problem of people stealing stuff from unlocked cars. He says don't give thieves the opportunity to steal your personal property.
