Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) Sioux Falls fourth Walmart grand opened on Wednesday with a bang.
At the ribbon cutting ceremony, the Walmart Foundation donated $160,000 to Feeding South Dakota. The groups Kerri DeGraff says the money will be used to purchase a new truck to distribute food more effectively throughout eastern South Dakota.
Along with the big check to Feeding South Dakota, Walmart shared the wealth around with smaller checks to four other charities, including McCrossan Boys Ranch and Special Olympics.
The new Walmart is at 85th and Minnesota. There are now Walmarts in all four quadrants of South Dakota's biggest city.
The southside Walmart project was not without controversy. A citizens group fought it tooth and nail - even in the courts - claiming it was too big to be so close to residential neighborhoods.
