Sioux Falls, SD (KELO-AM) The stage at the Sioux Falls Arena was busy Sunday, as the citiy's four Public High Schools graduated 1,487. Students from Washington, Roosevelt, Lincoln and New Technology High Schools graduated during four packed sessions, surrounded by family, friends and education officials. Students from Sioux Falls O'Gorman and Sioux Falls Christian High Schools graduated in late May.
School Board President Kent Alberty congratulated the students, and quoted a British author, Neil Gaiman, during his address, saying that the graduates shouldn't be afraid to make mistakes. Click the link above to hear Alberty's remarks.
The school district says 377 of the grads were named as Regent Scholars by the State Education Department, while 277 are members of the National Honors Society. 285 earned Presidential Education Awards.
